Adele Steps Out: Life After the Spotlight

Adele made a rare public appearance this past Saturday, popping up courtside at Crypto.com Arena for the Lakers-Timberwolves game alongside her fiancé, Rich Paul. Even with the Lakers taking a tough 117-95 loss, the couple seemed to be in high spirits, keeping things low-key and relaxed. Adele, 36, kept it sharp in a gray button-up set topped with a tan jacket and gold accessories, while the 44-year-old sports agent went with a black long-sleeve tee and a baseball cap.

It’s a different pace for the superstar, who announced an indefinite hiatus from music back in September 2024. During a performance in Germany, she got real with her fans about the decision: “I will not see you for an incredibly long time, and I will hold you dear in my heart for that whole length of my break. I have spent the last seven years building a new life for myself, and I want to live it now.”

Since wrapping up her “Weekends With Adele” residency in Las Vegas that November, she’s been leaning into that life she built. For a hitmaker who has already raised her 11-year-old son, Angelo, the transition away from the stage isn’t just about rest—there’s been talk about expanding her family with Paul.

The couple has mastered the art of keeping their relationship out of the tabloids, though their history has played out in front of the cameras since they first sparked rumors at the 2021 NBA finals. From that massive pear-cut ring she wore to the 2022 Brit Awards to her candid stage banter in Vegas—where she once playfully shut down a fan’s proposal by noting her “husband” was in the building—they’ve kept fans guessing. She finally confirmed the engagement in August 2024, telling a fan, “I can’t marry you because I’m already getting married so I can’t.”

Rich has been a constant presence through it all, frequently spotted supporting her from the wings. One of the more memorable moments from her final Vegas run was when she wandered into the crowd during “When We Were Young,” finding Paul for a quick kiss while she sang. Now, with the residency behind her and the music on pause, the pair seems perfectly content swapping the arena stage for the sidelines.
