A pattern is a way to tell the system when and how you want each guitar string to be strummed / picked.
A pattern has nothing common with the currend chord (in fact, any pattern is suitable for every chord). The chord defines which frets are pressed on the guitar neck. Pattern describes the rhythm with which all the guitar strings are picked/strummed.
Chords in Star Piano consist of 4 (3) notes and can be played in 2 octaves: low and high. A pattern is a way to tell the system when and how you want each piano key that is inside the chord to be pressed.
