At first, I wanted to give the look and feel of some real hardware device. As you see, the whole concept of "visual mixing" has been there from the start. No on-wave menus yet.

Soon, I realised that this is not the look I wanted to achieve. Too 2000-s. I wanted Touch DJ to look totally futuristic.

This was much better. But, when it came to initial usability testing, it turned out that this kind of interface wasn't usable enough. (Funny thing that soon there will be another DJ app which uses almost the same interface... only without the visual mixing, hehe)
First of all, I didn't like the horizontal layout with the cable sticking out of the phone side. Not too convenient. Also cannot be held with one hand.

This is how we travelled to the vertical layout concept.. which, of course, required totally another approach to the interface.
Lots of work on every element - and this concept came to life:

Funny that it all began with the blue & violet color scheme, then I switched to the blue & green scheme and then returned to the original color solution.
Okay, have fun with the app! - Toyo
